DEAREST COFABGIANS

I BLOG THIS FROM A LAND OF ICE AND SNOW BLISTERING FUCKING HEAT. I MEAN JESUS DC, WHAT THE FUCK.

Ahem. Sorry for that. Mostly.

Anyhoo, I really wanted to, you know, jump back into blogging today. Or something. But I had a minor problem of electricity losssd for the past week or so. Or exactly one week. I cant remember. It’s not like it’s been so hot the only way I was able to keep cool was by drinking beer or anything. No! Never!

Always Bet With Black version 3.0.5

Quick and dirty because I am tired. And have been for the past week or so

Ask Advice Dog [Like a politician]

Dear Advice Dog,

I have a problem. I was going to do this blog post every week and post them around 1337 each time. But now I'm eating it. I can't write the post this week to save my life. Should I just make it a biweekly post(meaning every other week, of course)?

move the goalposts/call it a touchdown!

Yeah. So this is going to become a biweekly post now. I mean, i was thinking it, and Advice dog obviously agrees.

Temp ABWB 11

abwb 11

Yeah, I know. It's been kinda a busy week.

Yet Another Temp ABWB

Actual reason why. Seriously. I'll talk about it later 2008-11-01_1102

YouTube of the Week: Nothingness

It's been a frustrating effort picking a YouTube this week. I wanted to post the weirdest Toronto Maple Leafs joke ever made. But sadly, Kids in the Hall like their copyright. And the vid was pulled.

So, instead, I'll give you debate reaction.

Warthog and I went back and forth on this the night of. Is McCain more like Lear or MacBeth? Is this campaign his tragedy or a tragedy created by him? It's a dumb point re: the plays. Lear makes clear that stepping aside when you should lead is a choice. Not something someone does to you.

So. Act 1 Scene 4.

The camera direction is really bad. Any second, it could cut to Rocky punching steak. But there are the lines.

"Thou hath little wit in thy bald crown, and thou gave the golden one away."

"Who is it that can tell me who I am?"

I'm bringing more into this than happened at the debates. What do you expect? Short notice.

Obama Pr0n

[Ed Note: This was actually written (not very well) during the primaries, but it still applies. And sorta ties into my next Rocks Post. So that part makes me happy.]

---

I'll be the first to say it, I'm not a very good writer. Like at all. But sometimes, you get something and you let it write itself.

I watch this and wonder if the best thing is to honestly let everything play itself out. Mostly because Aaron Sorkin TWW writers are smarter than I ever will be [And also because we should. Let it play out. This is the fun, dammit]. Also because for some weird, fucked up reason this campaign season has taken the exact same path as seasons 6 and 7, which is something that I have been talking about with the Dutchman way before I started reading the political blogs that I do now. But the real reason why I watch this and wonder, is that, as a Democrat (and let's face it TWW was what the Democratic party should be at its best for the most part) how can I not embrace the candidate that reminds me most of what I believe it.

Of course, this post in and of itself requires a longer, more in depth post about why I support Rocks. It's coming. As are many more posts about Rocks. Just need to take care of my life, and my hopes before I can get to the country's and this blog's.

...

Or something. I just wanted to sound semi-poetic there. I failed. I know. Let's move on.

Everybody knows

I hate almost everything CNN does. They've got more people watching the wires and more cameras on the ground than anyone, and once they have the image or the lede they consistently do the shittiest, most half-asked job covering it.

Say, here. In this encouraging piece of news.

But I can forget, if not forgive, the "air the controversy" bullshit cable news always falls back on when it feels like doing no research and taking no stance. Because the fact that this statement is out there makes me happy.

Also, Georgia signed.

This ain't a sewn outfit homes, homes is about it

This is one of those sad situations where 95% of all grownups agree, and yet we do the opposite. "21" combines some our worst fantasies. We take a real fact of life (young people are reckless), and pretend we can control it with symbolic action and voodo responsibility.

Voodo as in, the month after this law gets changed a 19 year old will die. Just like every other month. But now everyone will feel bad, like their allowing the law to change somehow caused it. Which feelings will be milked by monomaniacs, and given free coverage on CNN.

Unlike now, when 19 year olds die, no one will go on the record saying how, no one that age is told or can be expected to seek help when too drunk, and jurors and soldiers are legal children. But Candy can sleep well at night, and dream that she re-writes human nature with every letter to Congress.

The fantasy can't end soon enough.
