 Would the conference championship game be boring as hell. You might as well just crown the Big Ten East as conference champions and save Iowa the embarrassment of getting blown out by Ohio State/Penn State/(in five years please please please god)Michigan.

But i don't know how else you'd break it up... you either make the two sides evenly balanced, or you preserve historical rivalry. I don't know how you can do both.
